it's december! advent calendar #1

Oi! An uber, uber busy week and another one coming up! So busy that I haven't touched a Christmas ornament or decoration of any kind for my home. Christmas card paper has not even been purchased yet. Yikes! Maybe more on that later, blogging time is short!

I've been thinking about advent calendars over the last month or two. We've never done one with our kids. I don't recall doing one regularly in my family growing up. We had the occasional cardboard advent calendar with the chocolates in each window but it wasn't a tradition. I thought I'd start one this year with my family but here it is December 1 and I haven't had time to choose just the right one. One that we could use every year and possibly pass on. So I thought I'd share some of the ones I've been looking at and work toward a decision for next year (ahh, procrastination).

Apropos to the countdown concept I thought I'd share one advent calendar find every day until Christmas. Twenty-five total. Can I really blog every day over the Christmas season? I will try! It's just one item, right? Kind of like when I tell The Husband I'm just going to read one more blog!

Okay, enough chatter, here goes... this is my favorite so far of the ones I've seen...

The Danish Ornament Advent Set

Isn't it pretty!? I love all the sweet little ornaments and the background paper and the cute distressed numbers. I guess I'd keep the ornaments in a pretty little box or basket and let the children choose one to hang each day. A nice alternative to candy! Not sure about the twenty-fifth day since there are only twenty-four ornaments but the twenty-fifth is already the big day anyway, right!?

Found this at allsorts a couple weeks ago. Pretty, pretty... definitely on the short list of choices!
