ina infatuation...

As mentioned in a previous post... I specialize in watching other people cook. Ina Garten, of Barefoot Contessa fame, is one of my favorites to watch and who knew... Cha-Cha's favorite, too?!?

Many a day Cha-Cha demands to watch a show that is not on any of the 200+ channels available, she cannot be appeased with a dvd from the collection of 50 or so that she and her siblings have collected and nothing from the list of tivo'd children's shows will do. No... must watch Caillou (or whatever the impossible request of the day is) now! For a while the only possible ending to one of these commands was a teary, loud tantrum and my promise to tivo that show next time it came on.

Ah, but Momma has a new tool! "Besoot intessa" (Barefoot Contessa in Cha-Cha speak) was stumbled upon accidentally one day. I was reading off possible show choices to her and came across one of my many tivo'd Barefoot Contessas (I can't erase any because I might actually make something, sometime)... in desperation I offered this up to the Queen of the Three-Year Olds. Surprisingly she was interested! I turned it on and... voila, she sat entranced for the whole show. She even insisted that we fast forward the commercials! Thinking that this was a fluke, I hesitated to try it again. Guess what? Not a fluke! She genuinely loves it, it works every time! She even chants "again... again" at the end of most showings!

What a happy accident... something we can both enjoy! Now... I just have to figure out a way to get her to actually cook like Ina someday! Then I can watch her cook! "How hard can that be?"
