back from the berkshires...

AKA Perfect. Every year we make a getaway to the Berkshires and every year we stay at The Red Lion Inn. We can never get enough! I think we may need to buy a permanent room there!

What do we love about it? EVERYTHING. Okay, here's the short list...
  • Lazy afternoons on the full-length covered porch, reading a book or watching the people go by, while a soft breeze blows.

  • Comfy evenings in the Lion's Den enjoying unusually delicious pub fare and friendly live entertainment.

  • Snuggling in rooms with tons of character AND down pillows and comforters, AND all the amenities, including cushy soft robes to curl up in.

  • Eating food that is TO DIE FOR in the rustic, charming Tavern and the perfectly elegant Dining Room.

  • Being surrounded by flowers EVERYWHERE... pots on the porch, immaculate landscaping, little vases of daisies and lilacs scattered throughout.

  • Melting in the new Outdoor Heated Pool that can be used year-round with it's heated flagstone patio and fabulous hot tub. (This is New England, people, this is exciting)

  • Perusing collections of teapots and dishes and antiques and photographs and artwork and fun tchotchkes in every nook and cranny.

  • Cozy mornings reading the paper in front of the crackling fireplace in the antique loaded lobby.

  • Breakfasts so satisfyingly filled with fresh squeezed orange juice and overstuffed omelets that you forget to eat lunch!

  • Friendly, polite, attentive staff that truly makes you feel comfortable and at home.

  • Yummy homemade chocolates and mini books of quirky bedtime stories on your pillow every evening.

  • Not to mention all the things to look at and do surrounding this lovely place. Music, shopping, theater, mansions, more shopping, hiking, museums, ogling amazing homes, more shopping...

I could go on and on... No one is paying me to say any of this or giving me free accommodations for life (don't I wish)... We just LOVE it!
